Q: Amira, can you tell us about your journey in the film and advertising industry?

Amira Sherif: My journey began in Cairo, Egypt, where I discovered my love for storytelling during my time at The American University in Cairo (AUC). I graduated with a Bachelor of Multimedia Journalism and quickly made my mark by joining Film Clinic Express Production House as an Executive Producer. One of my early notable projects was the short film “Fork & Knife,” which earned critical acclaim and was selected for the 2nd Edition of the prestigious El Gouna Film Festival.

Q: What inspired you to found Kino Films?

Amira: Kino Films was born out of a desire to create impactful, high-quality films that resonate with audiences worldwide. I wanted to combine my passion for cinema and advertising into a single entity that excels in both areas. Guided by a management team with strong German educational roots, we leverage our deep understanding of cinematic techniques and creative direction to produce films that are both technically excellent and artistically compelling.

Q: You’ve worked on some high-profile projects like Netflix’s “Paranormal” and Shahid’s “Bimbo.” What was that experience like?


Amira: Working on these projects was incredibly rewarding. Each project presented its own set of challenges and opportunities, allowing me to grow as a producer and leader. “Paranormal” and “Bimbo” were particularly exciting because they allowed us to showcase our ability to create compelling content that resonates with a wide audience.

Q: How did your role as an Egypt-based producer for Film Independent’s Filmmaking Program ‘Film Arabi’ impact your career?

Amira: My involvement in ‘Film Arabi’ was a significant milestone. It highlighted my commitment to promoting Arab cinema and showcased my ability to collaborate on international projects. It was an enriching experience that allowed me to contribute to the growth of Arab cinema on a global scale.

 

Q: What is your vision for Kino Films moving forward?

Amira: Our vision at Kino Films is to revolutionize the film industry through innovative storytelling, technical excellence, and a commitment to producing impactful, high-quality films. We aim to push the boundaries of film production and storytelling by combining our technical expertise with creative vision to deliver compelling cinematic experiences.

Q: Can you tell us more about your recent ventures into the Saudi market?

Amira: Venturing into the Saudi market has been a fascinating experience. It has allowed us to collaborate with new talent and bring fresh perspectives to our projects. The Saudi market is vibrant and full of potential, and we are excited to be a part of its growth and development in the film and advertising sectors.

Q: You’ve produced over 300 commercials. How do you balance the demands of film and advertising production?
